   Our Mission
Music Therapy of Idaho shares the mission of the American Music Therapy Association, which is “To advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services in a rapidly changing world.”

   Our Story
Music Therapy of Idaho was founded on the belief that Idaho families deserve options regarding their own care and treatment. We believe that if someone is not engaging in music therapy, it should be because of a personal choice not to, not simply because it’s unavailable. As students in Boston, Stephanie and Kerry saw how effective and valuable music therapy was for many individuals and felt that Idahoans deserved it too. They noticed that there were far too few music therapists offering services here and realized that if that were to change, they needed to do their part. In January of 2010, Stephanie moved back home to Boise, sought out the music therapists already here, and began laying the groundwork for Music Therapy of Idaho. Kerry joined her later that August, and Bonni came along in January of 2013. Although up and running now, they see their jobs as pioneers as far from done. They continue to advance public awareness and increase accessibility of music therapy through efforts regarding third-party reimbursement, government relations, and community education.
